Becky Acton was born and raised in Denton, Texas. She started her dance journey when she was 8 years old at Denton Dance Conservatory where she danced under Lisa Racina-Torre's direction until she graduated from Billy Ryan High School in 2015. Not only did she dance at DDC, she also did two tours in Europe with Denton City Contemporary Ballet, by the age of 17. Becky was accepted as a modern dance intern, her sophomore year of high school, with the Dallas Black Dance Theatre, expanding her knowledge on classic modern dance forms. She started teaching her own contemporary classes at Denton Dance Conservatory from 2015-2018. After high school Becky continued her dance career with Mover's Unlimited under the direction of Kihyoung Choi at Tarrant County College.
In 2017, Becky decided to pursue the art of Jiu Jitsu under Jason "Wildthing" Sampson at Sampson Jiu Jitsu Academy. She trained there from 2018-2021, winning multiple International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation competitions, and even finished the 2020 season ranked number 65th in the World under the IBJJF's female Blue Belt rankings. From 202-2021, Becky competed for the Carlos Machado Jiu Jitsu Competition Team representing the Machado name with great pride.
DDC is proud to have Ms. Becky back "home," where she will be teaching adult classes, teen ballet, contemporary, and more!
